In my Shoreditch counselling and psychotherapist service, I work with individuals and couples that includes all ages,(from 17+) genders, sexual orientations, different cultures and heritage backgrounds, and disabilities.

There is disabled access in Longcroft House at my Liverpool Street practice where I work on Mondays

My experience has been gained from working in private practice and in various organisational settings in the voluntary and public sectors, including Higher and Further Education, Charity organisations such the Terrence Higgins Trust, and Youthreach, an adolescent counselling agency. A lot of the work was around 'fear of fairer' anxiety, and at times, depression.

I believe that most people, at some point in their lives, have probably experienced some sort of emotional and/or psychological difficulties and challenges. In many ways, this is part of being human. It isn't so much that these are necessarily problems within themselves, but more about how they are managed by the individual or couple and those around them, whether they be family, partner, friends, or colleagues. If someone has good support structures, they may be able to work through the problems they face, without talking to a counsellor or psychotherapist.

But, sometimes, we don't want to share personal or difficult emotional issues with anyone close to us. Also, for some people, they can feel very isolated and alone with things that are going on in their lives, with or without close friends and/or family. Or, it might not be an option for someone to talk to others close to them. Someone else may simply not have close friends or family to talk to. This is often the case for students who are away from home or their country of origin. I have helped many individuals with isolation, retirement and home sickess. It varies from person to person. When someone contacts me, I would hope to help them to start talking about the difficulties they are facing in their life. Hopefully, whether you are an individual or couple you will find it helpful to talk to someone that is professionally trained to listen, understand, and help you to resolve the difficulties that you are facing.

Francis' professionalism and empathy provided a safe and non-judgmental environment to discuss any issues and to challenge my beliefs where necessary. It was a very trusting environment and I felt like I was 'in good hands.'

When these difficulties have not been resolved previously, they can often lead into emotional and psychological problems and begin to emerge as anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress/trauma, relationship difficulties, addictions, aggression, anger, low self-esteem, stress, and so on. These can then impact upon and limit the well-being and quality of life for individuals and couples. Sometimes, these difficulties, particularly in relation to abuse, whether it be physical, psychological, emotional, sexual, or coercion, can seriously affect the functionality and fulfilment of one's potential, and sense of well-being, in relation to one's self or, within the context of family, friends, and work colleagues. I hope, that by offering a confidential, sensitive, understanding, non-judgmental, and safe space, clients, whether they be individuals or couples, will be able to work through these difficulties, and come to a new understanding and resolution that will enable a more satisfying and rewarding way of living.

Counselling and Psychotherapy can range from being an understanding of a particular problem and adapting to another way of dealing with it, to a life changing experience of exploration and understanding that can change how we look at and understand ourselves and others around us. I guess it is a bit like saying 'there is no issue or problem too small or too large' and that I will endeavour to help you regardless of whether it is more short or long term work.

Francis was recommended to me by a close and trusted friend. It’s my turn to pass that gift on. His approach and mindset considerably helped me through my hardest time.
